Afrikaans: Lalande Blindeslang.
Look for:
  • Cylindrical body
  • Grey to brown body
  • Highly polished scales
  • Blunt head indistinct from body
  • Eyes barely visible

None.

Habits

A small burrowing snake that lives almost always underground surfacing only in rainy weather.  These snakes are seldom seen.

Food

Insects and their larvae, termites and ants.

Reproduction

Oviparous. Lays 3 eggs.

Enemies

Other snakes, especially the spotted harlequin snake.

Habitat

Found in grasslands and lowland forest.
