Habits

Generally slow moving and docile but apt to bite readily when molested. Prefers moist habitats and is not as common as the brown house snake. It is partial to rubble and debris, also found near human dwellings.

Food

Lizards, rodents and other snakes.

Reproduction

Oviparous. Lays 5-15 eggs which hatch in 80 days.

Enemies

Predatory birds and other snakes.

Habitat

Moist savanna, lowland forest and fynbos.
